Somerfield Treated Softwood Field Gate

Our Somerfield gates are traditional 5-bar gates ideal for entrances from driveways to equestrian.

They have a tapered and chamfered top bar with a wider hanging stile to strengthen the gate.

All joints are morticed and tenoned and have diamond bracing. 

They are made from green pressure-treated planed timber. 

However, we sell self applicated treatment products and paints that will cover the gate to make them any colour you wish.

Please remember when measuring your gate to allow a 100mm (4″) gap for hanging and to keep to imperial measurements.

These gates are also available in hardwood, and bespoke sizes can be ordered.

Sizes available:

3ft, 4ft, 5ft, 6ft,7ft,8ft,9ft, 10ft, 11ft, 12ft, 13ft and 14ft widths

We recommend:

5″ x 5″ gate posts for smaller pedestrian gates of 3 or 4 feet wide.

6″ x 6″ gate posts for field gates from 4 feet to 7 feet.

7″ x 7″ gate posts for field gates from 7 feet to 12 feet.

8″ x 8″ gate posts for field gates from 12 feet to 14 feet.
